Here to help you thrive

At Hamline, we know that your wellness is key to your success. Here, you’re part of a community that cares. We’re here to support your needs with counseling and health services and a peer wellness education program so you get support not only from us, but from other students as well.

We also recognize that many students face significant and longstanding social and economic barriers in pursuing higher education. Our office is dedicated to providing you with a care environment that is welcoming, trustworthy, equitably accessible, and affirming of all identities.

Let's Talk

Considering counseling, but feeling hesitant?  Unsure if your issue requires counseling?  Reluctant to go through a formal appointment process? Let’s Talk!

Let’s Talk sessions are brief (15 to 20 minutes), informal, and confidential individual consultations with a professional counselor, with no appointment or intake forms required.

For spring semester 2024, students can drop in for a Let’s Talk session on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. or Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon in GLC 104E. Sessions are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join a therapy group

In addition to individual counseling services, we offer a variety of counseling groups during the fall and spring semesters. Joining a therapy group will provide you with an opportunity to:

  • Connect with peers about shared concerns
  • Learn about yourself
  • Gain more skills to manage your current concerns
  • Interact with others in a meaningful way

Groups are facilitated by psychologists from Counseling and Health Services and are free to Hamline students. Students will be asked to attend a 30-minute screening and orientation meeting before joining a group.

Stress and anxiety support group

  • During each group session, group members will write about their trauma individually and then discuss the experience of writing about it with the group
  • Discussing details of one’s trauma is not required, but the group will be a safe space for those who wish to share
